Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to technology and product development projects by identifying and implementing innovative solutions. Mechanical engineering encompasses a variety of engineering assignments such as planning, designing and modifying machinery, equipment and products. It also coordinates activities internally and with other groups to effectively accomplish objectives requiring knowledge of associated functions and related engineering fields. The work model for the role is: Hybrid This role is contributing to the Process Automation Measurement & Analytics division. You will be mainly accountable for: • Designing and developing complex models or simulations and applying advanced computer programs, analytical techniques or control strategies to effectively meet requirements and resolve problems • Design, analyze and evaluate systems, products or components, requiring a high degree of technical expertise • Act as principal investigator or lead a group of engineers investigating problems, developing solutions and preparing related recommendations and reports • Research, investigate and define new areas of technology to enhance existing products or to provide new product direction Our team dynamics You will join a dynamic and high performing team, where you will be able to thrive.
Qualifications for the role - Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or related field
- Minimum 6 years of experience; alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments
- Mechanical product design experience from concept to production
- 3D CAD/CAE experience - design of parts, assemblies and conduct of finite element analysis.
- Product design experience - particularly CNC precision machined, sheet metal, GD&T, casting technology, injection molded and die cut parts and precision assemblies.
- Materials selection experience including metal, engineering polymers and elastomers.
- CFD, Thermal, linear static, and/or nonlinear finite elements analysis.
- Experience designing equipment to meet environmental Requirements - vibration, shock, humidity, temperature etc.
- SolidWorks or similar tools experience including PLM/PDM tools(windchill preferred)
- Familiar with hazardous area certification for oil field is plus.
- Experience on Gate model/SCRUM environment and hold formal reviews including concept, design, FMEA, EMC, functional test would be preferred.
- Rapid Prototyping/additive manufacturing experience in product development is plus
- Familiarity with Flow Computers and Gas Chromatographs a plus
- Experience working closely with multi-functional team (production, production test, customer support, supply chain)
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
