Job Description

Our client, an Agriculture based 500 Fortune Company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, analytical skills and team collaboration which will align successfully in the organization.  

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Inver Grove Heights, MN

Pay Range: $35/hr.-$45/hr.
Work Schedule: Hybrid, 2 days a week on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. 8-hour days between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. when in the office.

What’s the Job?

• Ensure timely completion of monthly accounting tasks, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial closure activities.
• Prepare, analyze, and review general ledger account reconciliations as part of the monthly closing process.
• Conduct accounting and financial analyses to identify significant trends and support critical estimates like accruals and reserves.
• Perform monthly product costing and reconcile inventory.
• Collaborate cross-functionally, serving as a business partner to aid in financial outcome preparation and reporting.
• Create schedules to support SEC disclosure reporting requirements.
• Execute, document, and validate the effectiveness of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit and review processes.
• Identify opportunities for process enhancement and lead initiatives to improve process efficiency, standardization, system enhancements, and reporting capabilities.

What’s Needed?

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting.
• Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
• Experience using SAP and JDE accounting software.

Additional Qualifications:
• Familiarity with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Certification as a CPA, CMA, or CFA.
• Prior experience in the energy sector.
• Background in enterprise transformation initiatives.
